It’s been a little while since I’ve updated, again; there’s a few new things going on though. I’ve been spending a lot of time on G+, it’s a great place to see what others are doing but there’s a danger in comparing yourself to the photographers on there. It seems, with a few exceptions, like every person I have in my circles is an amazing photographer. I’m interacting and trying to hold my own, I’ve gone and gotten myself involved in a photo scavenger hunt, I’ve got a list of ten things/concepts and I have to find a unique way to show them in a photo. It sounded so easy when the idea was first offered so I jumped in toe first, now that I have the list it’s another thing. I’ve got ideas for some but the execution is going to be tough, others I have no idea.
I’m also going to attempt another numbered project, I haven’t quite decided if it’s going to be a 366 day, a 52 or maybe I’ll go in the middle and do a 183. So far I’ve got one for each day since the 1st so it looks like it’ll probably be a 366.
There was another challenge (really more of a project) on G+ to pick and contribute your ten “top” images from 2011 to a tagged post. Your “top” images were open to interpretation, I picked my favorites and it was harder than I thought it would be. I took over 9,000 images; and no that’s not some internet meme I literally took that many shots in 2011. It did give me a resolution for the year though, and I’ll be keeping it, I’ve got to get my images for 2012 better organized so I don’t have to scour the drives so hard finding just the ones from that year. Thinking about it now I should probably keyword all the new images with #2012.
I was also instructed on how to find out how many times your images on G+ have actually been viewed so I took a look to find what they were, only one of them is in my personal favorites selection and the favorite was a huge surprise. It was a cropped version of the sign for deep fried foods I posted here from the Bethlehem Fair back in September. I couldn’t really say why it was so popular though, to me it was just a snapshot with some nice colors. I guess you just never know.
So here we go, in no particular order these are my favorites from 2011:
